Transition from District 29 to District 18
Important update for East Stroudsburg Softball Little League families
Effective November 5, 2025
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT UPDATE. Please review the information below for how the Little League redistricting changes will affect East Stroudsburg Softball Little League (ESSLL) and your player.
Dear East Stroudsburg Softball Little League Families,
We hope you are doing well. We are writing to share an important change that will impact our league for the upcoming season.
Overview of the Redistricting Change
East Stroudsburg Softball Little League (ESSLL) has been part of District 29 along with several surrounding leagues. Due to mandates from Little League International, a statewide redistricting plan was put into motion earlier this year.
This redistricting was officially finalized on November 5, 2025. Under this plan, District 29 has been dissolved, and our league has been moved into a new district: District 18.
District 18, which is part of Section 6, includes the following leagues:
- Anthracite
- East Stroudsburg
- Franklin Twp
- Jim Thorpe
- Pocono Mt East
- Pocono Mt West
- Stroudsburg
- Tamaqua
- Tobyhanna
- Towamensing Twp
- Weatherly
- West End
We want to emphasize that ESSLL, like all other leagues affected, had no decision-making power in this change. It was made at the national and state levels of Little League International.
What This Means for Your Player
This redistricting ensures that our players will continue to have access to regular season play, district tournaments, and postseason opportunities. It also introduces new opponents and environments that can help players grow and expand their skills.
There are a few items we want families to be aware of as we prepare for registration. These are the changes we can currently anticipate, though more may arise as more details are shared.
Travel Expectations
With the move to District 18, teams may occasionally need to travel farther than in past seasons. Travel distances will vary by age group and schedule.
Most weekday games will be scheduled locally against teams who were formerly in District 29 to allow reasonable commuting time. Weekend games may require additional travel, especially for tournament or interleague play.
During registration, you will see a question asking whether your family is willing to travel. Please answer honestly. If a family marks “yes” but does not show up to travel games, it affects an entire team of girls, not just your own.
Competitive Team Development
District 18 offers a wider range of teams and levels of play. This gives us the opportunity to explore additional competitive options while still supporting our core recreational program.
We do not yet have a final view of what these opportunities will look like, but possibilities include:
- Holding tryouts
- Adding new steps or processes to support competitive growth
Players of all skill levels and experience levels will continue to be welcome.
Our Values Remain the Same
Even though the district structure has changed, our mission has not. ESSLL remains committed to creating a positive, supportive environment where girls can learn the game, build confidence, develop skills, and grow as teammates.
We are still the same Eastburg you know — simply playing in a new district structure.
Next Steps
We understand that changes can bring questions, and we will continue to share updates as they become available. To help you make informed decisions, we plan to offer a Q&A session before our registration period ends.
- We will share the date, time, and format of the Q&A session on our website and through email.
- Families will have the opportunity to ask questions about travel, schedules, and competitive opportunities.
If you have any immediate questions, please email us at
[email protected].
Warmly,
East Stroudsburg Softball Little League Board
