East Stroudsburg Softball Little League (ESSLL) offers age-appropriate divisions and year-round opportunities for girls ages 4–16 to learn, play, and grow in the game of softball.

We are a development-focused, recreational league. There are no tryouts required to join our regular season teams, and all skill levels are welcome—from beginners who are picking up a glove for the first time to experienced players looking to continue their development.

Our goal is to provide a fun, positive, learning-focused environment where every player can build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of softball.

Minors 8–10 Building core skills, learning game situations, live or machine pitching.

Final placement decisions are made with player safety, experience, and development in mind.

Instructionals (League Ages ~4–7)

Instructionals is our beginner-friendly division for the youngest players. This division focuses on fun, basic skills, and learning how to love being on the field.

  • Emphasis on throwing, catching, hitting, baserunning, and simple game concepts.
  • Coach pitch, tee work, and modified rules to keep players engaged and safe.
  • Shorter practices and games appropriate for attention span and age.
  • Great introduction for brand new players.

Minors (League Ages ~8–10)

Minors is where players start to put skills together in game situations and experience more of the strategy of softball.

  • Increased focus on throwing accuracy, fielding, hitting, and baserunning.
  • Machine or player pitch (depending on division and interleague rules).
  • Introduction to more advanced concepts like stealing and force plays.
  • Balanced focus on development, learning, and having fun.

Majors (League Ages ~11–13)

Majors introduces a more complete version of the game, with players using more advanced skills and strategy in a competitive but still development-focused environment.

  • Full defensive positions, more advanced base running, and situational softball.
  • Stronger emphasis on pitching, catching, and infield/outfield roles.
  • Opportunities for interleague play and post-season tournaments may be available.
  • Focus on teamwork, resilience, and preparing for higher levels of play.

Seniors (League Ages ~14–16)

Seniors is our oldest division, giving players a chance to continue growing in the game while playing with and against strong competition.

  • Higher level of play, often with interleague schedules.
  • Continued development for players preparing for or already playing at the high school level.
  • Emphasis on leadership, game awareness, and team culture.

How We Place Players in Divisions

ESSLL uses Little League league age as the starting point for division placement, along with safety and player readiness.

  • League age is determined by Little League rules and may differ from your player’s actual age.
  • In some cases, players may play up or down a division based on experience and safety.
  • Final placement decisions are made by ESSLL with the player’s best interests in mind.
